Devonport and Northcote Point villas are where wifi struggles most on the Shore, with long central hallways and rooms strung out away from the router. A few Cat6 runs to the lounge, the home office and two ceiling access points usually fix it. Villa roof spaces and subfloors give us routes without opening walls, and we plan each drop so original linings and trim are left undisturbed.
The split-level 1960s and 1970s homes across the East Coast Bays and Glenfield bring a different challenge: half-levels mean a cable may need to cross between ceiling and subfloor spaces to reach every room. Albany's 1990s and 2000s homes sit between the two, with roomy ceiling spaces that make retrofitting a home network fairly simple.

The weak point is usually the switchboard: ceramic rewireable fuses or early circuit breakers, little spare space and RCDs on only some circuits or none.
